As a lifelong lover and collector of Australian Art, I consider it a real privilege and a pleasure to be the founding sponsor of the City of Perth Black Swan Prize for Portraiture. We live in a wonderful country, but it concerns me that we tend to be recognised internationally more for our sporting achievements than our creative prowess. This Prize is, I believe, a positive and well-conceived step towards restoring the balance.
